John Kirkpatrick: 200 Years of the Squeezebox

Thu 12 Feb 2026 8:00 PM - 10:30 PM GMT Online, Zoom

We’re pleased to welcome the award-winning John Kirkpatrick to the Live to your Living Room stage, as he takes us on a whirlwind tour of the humble squeezebox.

If you’re a lover of squeezeboxes of all styles, shapes, and forms, this gig is a must-attend!

What to expect: Exquisite music and a history lesson at the same time? Don’t mind if we do!

Enjoy two hundred years of popular tunes played on the Anglo concertina, the melodeon, and the button accordion, including folk classics, nostalgic signature tunes, lugubrious hymns, and lively dance music.

Delivered in John’s delightful, bright and breezy style, you’ll come away knowing everything that the squeezebox is capable of, and more!

About the artist

John Kirkpatrick has been passionate about folk music ever since he joined Hammersmith Morris Men in 1959 at the tender age of twelve.

Highly skilled on a variety of push-pull squeezeboxes, John has played in Steeleye Span and The Albion Band, as well as in a long-term duo with Roy Bailey and as a solo artist.

Kirkpatrick's buoyant presence and lust for this music sounds more rampant than ever - fRoots
