We’re delighted to welcome the wonderful Mishra and Deepa Shakthi to the Live to your Living Room stage as part of our autumn programme of events.
Mishra and Deepa will be showcasing songs from their latest album, Turn O Spinning Wheel, as well as lots of new and exhilarating material.
What to expect: The thing we love most about folk is that it transcends borders and constantly challenges the status quo, and this combination does just that. Deepa’s stunning and hypnotic voice pairs so well with the swirling Celtic rhythms of Mishra.
Joyous, energetic, and eclectic - this performance has to be seen to be believed.
About the artist
Mishra is an award-winning global folk collective consisting of Kate Griffin, Ford Collier, John Ball, Joss Mann-Hazell, and Alex Lyon. The group draws inspiration from English, Celtic, American, and Indian folk, utilising instruments including the tabla, banjo, clarinet, and double bass.
In 2022, Mishra joined forces with international fusion vocalist Deepa Shakthi (formerly Deepa Nair Rasiya), who has performed with Opera North, London Contemporary Voices, and Ravi Shankar on the album Chants of India.
